How To Edit Minecraft Server Files

The web-based FTP client lets you manage your Minecraft server files with ease from the panel. To access your Minecraft server files using the web client, navigate to FTP File Access and log in using your panel password. Once authenticated you will be directed to the home directory of your server.

Navigating Your Server Files

Navigating through server files is similar to how you do on your desktop. The directory structure is located in the middle. We can navigate to, select, and edit our files here. Click on the folder you wish to open it and browse its contents. To edit the file, click Edit. To download the file, click the actual name.

You'll find options to manage the files you've checked at the top. Once you have the selected items checked , you can assign specific actions to them such as:

Move - Move selected files to another directory with your server. Remove - Permanently erase selected files.

Copy - Create a copy of the selected files

Rename - Rename select files

Download - Download selected files to an archive format.

Zip - Archive files and save them to the server.

Unzip - Extract the contents of an archive into the directory you're currently in.

Edit - Edit the file using a built-in text editor.

Creating New Folder and Files

You can create new files or folders directly from your panel by using the New Dir, New File, or Upload option on the left-hand side menu.

New Dir - Create a new directory (or folder)

New File Create new plain text files.

Upload - Upload a set of files or an archive.

You can only upload one file using the Upload option. You can't upload entire folders. Uploading a whole folder will require you to first archive it first and then use the unzip option.

Limitations

The web-based FTP client is fast and easy for server edits and uploads. However, it has limitations. When you commit changes to your server files or uploading new files it is using the panels web page as an intermediary to the file exchange.  MINECRAFT SERVER LIST What this means is that you are limited in how you can upload in a single session. This limitation is set at 50MB, any file commit or upload larger than this size will have to be performed with a third Party FTP client, such as Filezilla. Third-party clients like Filezilla do not have a file size limitation since it connects with your server files directly as opposed to the web-based FTP client.
